Interview: Cory McBride, Owner of Fashion Boutique, Kult Rebellion
As part of our Interview series at Fempotential, we want to bring you real women who are accomplishing their dreams or have accomplished their goals, are helping to fight for others or themselves, or are just plain inspiring. So meet Cory McBride (pictured above), a business-owner with a fashion boutique called Kult Rebellion. Check out what she has to say about opening her own fashion boutique and the challenges and rewards that come with it.
Fempotential: Tell us a little about your business.
Cory: Kult Rebellion is a fun, outgoing fashion boutique for young women! We feature island chic attire that is both sexy and sophisticated. We just launched April 2016 so we are super new to the fashion world and can’t wait to show everyone what we have to offer. We hope to empower young women and make them feel sexy, confident, and stylish.
Fempotential: What made you want to start your own business?
Cory: I didn’t start my own business, I started my own REBELLION and I did it for the love of fashion! There is something very satisfying in being able to offer something that boosts a woman up and makes her feel good about herself. It’s even more rewarding when you can make a living out it.
Fempotential: What’s the best part about running your own business?
Cory: Living the dream! I’ve always wanted my own clothing store. The fact that I made it a reality is the best! I love being able to put my visions into something real and having strangers respond to it. A bonus to this dream — being my own boss. I hate people telling me what to do. 🙂
Fempotential: What’s the hardest part about running your business?
Cory: Being my own boss. I love it but it’s hard. You really have to stay focused, motivated, and fresh for yourself and for your team.
Fempotential: Do you think fashion can impact a woman’s self-confidence and how?
Cory: ABSOLUTELY! Fashion speaks volumes. You can tell how a person is feeling just by the way they are dressed. Give her the right outfit and she can conquer the world.
Fempotential: What have you learned about yourself since starting your business?
Cory: That I can accomplish anything I set my heart to. I also learned not to be scared of making mistakes and of rejection. You need both to evolve in business.
Fempotential: What would you tell other women who are interested in starting their own business or getting more involved in the fashion industry?
Cory: Believe in yourself, self-doubt is suicide. Be original, be passionate, be inspiring, be honest. Learn from your mistakes and above all have fun with it. It’s not that serious.
